Automatic Shoes is the solo project of Matthew Joseph Hughes, blending lo-fi folk, psych-pop, and cassette-era charm. Home-recorded songs about memories, dreams, and moments that almost slipped by. Based in Spokane, WA. Best heard late at night with headphones.The Inlander named Matthew and his band Atari Ferrari as Best Local Band and Best Singer-Songwriter in 2023, and Best Singer-Songwriter again in 2025. He released his most recent solo record Remember When We Were All Lovers in September 2024, available on vinyl, CD, and streaming.
